All A2 German Reflexive Verbs with Examples
German has a little more than 100 reflexive verbs, and 20 of them belong to the A2 level. In this lesson, YourGermanTeacher goes through all 20 in alphabetical order, with prepositions, example sentences and a bonus tip about idioms.
The A1 level has 16 reflexive verbs. In the video, reflexive pronouns and prepositions in blue are accusative and those in green are dative. In the table below the case is written out.

Notes on Individual Verbs
- Sich ändern is used when you replace something with something else, like plan A with plan B.
- Mensch ärgere dich nicht (Man, don't get angry) is the name of a famous German board game.
- Sich fühlen is not a greeting. For How are you? use Wie geht's? or Wie geht es Ihnen? Use Wie fühlst du dich? only when the person was recently sick or had a physical problem.
- Wo informierst du dich? means Where do you get your news? For example: in der Zeitung, im Internet, im Fernsehen.
- Kaufen and kochen also exist without sich. With sich you stress that it is for yourself: Morgen kaufe ich mir ein Handy means the phone is for me.
- Schneiden without sich means to cut something (Ich schneide Tomaten). Sich schneiden means you cut yourself.
- Sich wehtun is a separable verb. At the doctor's you often hear Wo tut es Ihnen weh?
